MG To Launch Mifa 9 MPV In Q1-2025

MG To Launch Mifa 9 MPV In Q1-2025

MG is all set to launch the Mifa 9 after the Cyberster is launched next month.
Mifa 9 will be the 2nd model under MG's premium Retail network.
The luxury MPV was showcased in Auto Expo 2023. It will be showcased in the Bharat Mobility Expo next month.

MG's AMBITIOUS PLANS:-
On Paper, a luxury van might not bring the necessary numbers for MG, but it contradicts well with MG's future plans( New Energy Luxury ).
MG is initially targeting 12 major cities and thus will create a niche segment for itself.
Ironically, MPVs are gaining popularity as Toyota sells about 1000 Vellfires each month and Kia Carnival was sold out for an entire calendar year.

  • With the Mifa 9 being an EV, the running costs are extremely low.
Sources suggest that the Mifa 9 will be Locally-Assembled to achieve a lower ex-showroom tag.
MG owner SAIC sells the Mifa 9 under the Maxus brand in markets like China and the UK.

  • DESIGN:-
As for the design, despite having a boxy silhouette like most MPVs, the Mifa 9 does get some striking highlights.

It features a large chrome grill at the front with all LED lighting and the DRL running along the width of the car.

On the sides, the MPV design is visible and is wrapped around 18-inch rims.

There's even a chrome highlights around the windows and doors in a U-Shape.

It also features automatic sliding doors.

While the rear gets vertical drop-down tail-lamps connected by a light bar, with more chrome trim surrounding it and the bumper and the Maxus badging which will be known as MG in India.

ENGINE & SPECIFICATIONS:-
Under the hood, the next-gen Mifa 9 will make use of a 90kWh battery pack.

  • The battery pack is mated to an electric motor producing 241bhp and 350Nm
  • It will be a front-wheel drive car.

  • MIFA 9 FEATURES:-
  • In terms of features, the new Mifa 9 will get an level-2 ADAS suite, powered second row with Ottoman function
  • The model will also boast automatic climate control, screens for first and second row, third row AC vents and panoramic sunroof.
  • There will be a range of charging options, including USB Type-A, wireless charger, and USB Type-C ports.
  • It is expected to get connected car technology with a special focus on second row usability options.

On The Inside, you get a triple-screen layout.
The interiors use a minimalist design and MG has reduced the number of buttons and have included the HVAC controls in the centre-screen too.

There's a generous use of leather and a large centre-armrest is present in the centre along with 2 cup-holders.
The interior layout reminds me of the Upcoming Mahindra XEV 7e.

DIMENSIONS:-
Even by luxury MPV standards, the Mifa 9 is a mammoth vehicle and measures 5.2 metres in length, 2 metres in width and 1.8 metres in height.

That’s bigger than the Kia Carnival all around and longer and wider than even the Vellfire. Space inside makes us want to take a nap and the Mifa 9 offers both 7- and 8-seater layouts.

PRICING AND COMPETITION:-
The MG Mifa 9 is expected to carry a price tag of around 65 Lakhs ( ex-showroom ) India.

Competition Includes the Toyota Vellfire, Kia Carnival and the Mercedes Benz V-Class( which is higher in the price ladder ).
