Hyundai Creta EV Launched At An Eye-Watering Price!!!

Hyundai Creta EV Launched At An Eye-Watering Price!!!

The Creta EV is taking the audience by storm with its pricing.
Hyundai has launched the SUV in the ongoing Bharat Mobility Auto Expo

The Creta EV is based on the ICE Model.

Customers can book the EV with a token amount of Rs 25,000, in their nearest showrooms. Hyundai has already received lots of bookings in the past 2 weeks

POWERTRAINS AND VARIANTS:-
Hyundai offers the EV with two battery options: 42kWh and 51.4kWh. The smaller cell pack has an ARAI claimed range of 390km, while the Long Range (LR) offers a 473km range.

The Creta EV sprints from 0-100 with a time of 7.9 seconds, which is bonkers!!
It is powered by a single motor and is front-wheel drive.
In the Long-Range variant, this motor churns out 171hp and 255Nm. The smaller battery features a 135hp electric motor.

The larger battery charges from 10-80 percent in 58 minutes using a DC charger and 4 hours to charge 10-100% using a 11KW AC charger.

Customers can choose from 10 colour options which include Matt and metallic colour options.

EXTERIOR:-
The overall silhouette of the Creta EV is similar to Its ICE sibling.
The front bumper resembles the Creta N-Line and features pixel-like details. The grill is closed and features an air dam for better aerodynamics.

The lower bumper also features air flaps in the bumper which open and close for cooling and airflow, a segment-first feature. We have seen this in the Ioniq 5 and is called the Air Flap technology.
The front camera is placed above the logo.

On the sides, there are minimal changes which include the EV-specific aero alloy wheels with low rolling resistance tyres and blacked-out C-pillars (in dual-tone models).

At the rear, a new bumper is featured with pixel-like detailing, a faux skid plate and electric badging on the right.

INTERIORS:-
On the Inside, the Creta EV shares a lot more with its petrol counterpart.
The changes include a new Steering wheel embossed in Morse code, a shift-by-wire stalk (on the right, behind the steering), and a rotary dial for the drive modes – Eco, Normal and Sport.

The feature list includes twin 10.25-inch screens, dual-zone climate control, Auto-dimming IRVM, electronic parking brake, 8-speaker BOSE sound system, etc. There is connected tech and the Korean company has also integrated EV-related info.

Hyundai has also used sustainable materials for the upholstery.

The Creta EV still misses out on Wireless Android-Auto and Apple Carplay which is a glaring miss considering consumers have to shell out 20+ Lakhs!!!

EV-related features include single-pedal driving (i-Pedal), vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging, a dedicated plug below the rear bench and in-car payment that can be used at charging stations.
Whether the car or charging stations would work glitch-free is to be seen over time but is an interesting feature to have.

There are paddle-shifters to alter the regeneration levels and single pedal driving is a feature which many consumers will appreciate in which the driver needn't use the brakes but only use the accelerator, the braking would be taken care of by the car's regen.

The EV's safety aids include a Level 2 ADAS suite, six airbags, 360-degree cameras, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), front parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers and hill-start and descent assist.

PRICING AND RIVALS:-
The Creta EV is available in 5 variants ranging from Rs 17.99 Lakhs for the base variant and 23.50 Lakhs for the Top-spec LR.
The variants include Executive, Smart, Smart (O), Premium and Excellence.

Interestingly the 11KW AC charger should be bought for an additional 73K for the top 3 variants which is confusing considering the top variants are more expensive.

The competition includes Maruti e Vitara, Mahindra BE 6, MG Zs EV, Tata Harrier EV and the upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser EV.
