Vinfast gears up for the launch in India. Learn what's in store!

Vinfast, a new Vietnamese car company that has gained quite a lot of recognition around the world, is preparing to enter the Indian car market in style, with two new electric vehicles, the VF6 and VF7 that we saw at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 and might arrive in the upcoming festive occasion this year. Quite early on before the launch, a few dealer cars in dealerships have been spotted across the country. A set of images tell us that there are cars, both covered and uncovered.

Speaking of market placement, the VF6 will rival the Creta electric, the Mahindra BE6, the Tata Curvv EV, the MG ZS EV, and the upcoming Maruti e Vitara and will be priced Rs. 25 lakh whereas the VF7 will rival the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the BMW iX1 LWB, the Hyundai Ioniq 5, and the BYD Sealion 7 in India, and will be priced Rs. 50 lakh.

The Vinfast VF6 is a compact electric SUV that stands out because of its rather clean look but loud lighting elements. It gets a full-width LED DRL strip with the main headlights placed lower for a more modern, sleek look. The rear has a similar design, with LED tail lights stretching across the entire width of the car. The dealership car was Neptune Grey and it looked quite good, but VinFast will offer it in Brahminy White, Crimson Red, and Jet Black as well.

On the inside, the VF6 gets a dual-tone dark brown and black interior. Soft-touch materials on the dashboard and doors give it a premium feel, while the layout is simple and user-friendly. It is a two-row SUV that can seat up to five people, making it practical for everyday use.

In terms of features, the VF6 comes with a 12.9-inch touchscreen, auto AC, and ventilated as well as heated front seats. Instead of a digital instrument cluster, it gets a heads-up display that shows important driving information.

Safety features for the India-spec VF6 are yet to be confirmed. However, the international version comes with multiple airbags, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS, which includes lane keeping assist and adaptive cruise control. These features could make their way to the Indian model as well.

The powertrain details for India are also not confirmed yet. However, internationally, the VF6 is available in two versions, both using a 59.6 kWh battery and a single front-mounted motor, making 177/204 PS of power (Eco/Plus Variant) and 250-210 Nm of torque (Eco/Plus Variant) with 410 to 379 km of range (Eco/Plus Variant).

The VF7, however, is positioned slightly above the VF6, and as a mid-size SUV, with more performance and more features. It was spotted testing, so it will arrive soon.

In terms of design, the VF7 carries forward the brand’s futuristic styling, similar to the VF6, but with a more aggressive and sporty stance. It features sleek wraparound LED tail lights connected by the VinFast logo, while the rear diffuser gets a bold design with reflectors and a roof-mounted spoiler. The front fascia, as seen on the global model, includes signature LED DRLs, projector LED headlamps housed in black inserts, and a wide honeycomb-style lower bumper. Flush door handles and ORVMs with integrated blind spot monitoring also add to its premium appearance.

Coming to the interior, the VF7 gets a dual-tone cabin with soft-touch leatherette surfaces and a clean dashboard layout. The 5-seater SUV includes adjustable headrests for all passengers and a large 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, slightly tilted towards the driver. Like the VF6, it skips a traditional instrument cluster in favour of a head-up display for essential driving data. A chunky 3-spoke steering wheel and dual-zone climate control enhance the driver-focused cabin feel.

The VF7 is expected to offer more features compared to the VF6. It will be equipped with a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a 360-degree camera.

Safety equipment is also expected to be comprehensive, with multiple airbags, an auto-dimming inside rearview mirror, an electronic parking brake and a full ADAS suite.

It comes in Eco and Plus, and in Plus, it comes with either single-motor Front-wheel-drive (FWD) or All-wheel-drive (AWD), with one more motor, both have the same 70.8 kWh battery, but range is yet to be announced. The FWD makes 201 PS and 310 Nm whereas the AWD makes 354 PS and 520 Nm.

VinFast has also confirmed that it will offer its smallest electric offering, the VF3 in India, but this is expected to happen sometime next year in 2026. The VF3 is a compact, 3-door electric SUV with a boxy design, simple features, and a focus on affordability and catering to the entry-level segment.

Globally, it comes with a 41 PS rear-mounted motor powered by an 18.64 kWh battery, offering a claimed range of 215 km. The cabin is minimal, with four seats, a 10-inch touchscreen, and basic comforts like manual AC and front power windows.

It is expected to be priced from around Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom), and will rival the MG Comet and serve as an affordable alternative to the Tata Tiago EV and Citroen eC3. The VF3 will be really good for India.
