MG Cyberster to be Launched in India in 2025

JSW MG India has confirmed the launch of its EV Roadster, the Cyberster for India in 2025. The Cyberster showcased in India in March will be sold as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). It will be accessible to the public via the MG Select retail channel.

MG Select

The MG Select as the name suggests offers the brand's
"premium" products. The Cyberster won't be lonely at the dealership, the Mifa 9 MPV will be sold alongside it. MG Select is said to have 12 experience centres throughout the country and is expected to increase numbers down the line gradually.

What is The MG Cyberster?

The Cyberster is a Born Electric Vehicle, it is 4535mm long, 1913 mm wide, and is 1329mm tall. Its weight varies from 1850 kg and 1984 kg depending on the powertrain. It has two battery pack options, a 64kWh and a 77kWh pack. 64kWh only offers RWD, producing 310 hp and a surprising range of 501 km. The 77kWh lets you choose between RWD and AWD, the RWD produces 340 hp with a range of 580km, and the AWD produces a whopping 536 hp and 725Nm of torque which sprints to 100 under 4 seconds! The RWD comes with 19-inch alloys, while the AWD comes with 20 inches. The performance makes it desirable, however, it is unclear what model we should expect to land on our shores.

It's a sporty GT, with scissor doors, vegan-friendly interiors, and a driver-oriented cockpit. The front reminds me of the BMW Z4, but it's just me. Due to the skateboard platform, the seats sit rather high, which might impose a problem for anyone above 6 feet. It gets sensors on the doors to prevent them from throwing a mean uppercut at anyone near them. It gets piano black treatment on the upper edge of the doors that flows to the rear. I am not a fan of the rear, it gets connecting tail lamps and arrow-shaped lamps underneath them.

Well, the Cyberster has no real competition. Its closest competitors in India are ze Germans, BMW Z4, and ze Porsche 718. While it is quick, will it be a product that Indians would accept? Would it even manage to sell 100 units considering the terrible charging infrastructure in cities? I honestly love the effort that JSW MG is making to launch such a product. Let me know what you think!
