Hyundai India to Install 600 Fast Public EV Chargers

Hyundai Motor India Limited currently has only two Ev's on sale, the Ioniq 5 and the Kona, which together have managed over 4000 sales as of November 2024. Though 4000 doesn't seem to be much, it doesn't stop Hyundai from going big! Aiming to install nearly 600 chargers across India on highways and major cities over the next 7 years, which is honestly the need of the hour as our current EV infrastructure is well, quite concerning.

Badly maintained charging stations, slow chargers, and lack of chargers on certain routes are some of the reasons why consumers don't opt for EVs as their primary cars. While EVs are not the future, this move by HMIL helps the government's narrative of driving up EV sales. HMIL states that by the end of 2024, the public DC fast public chargers will cover over 50 stations across highways, cities, and dealerships. The myHyundai app will help users, even non-Hyundai EV owners locate the nearest DC Fast public charging station strategically placed where amenities like Coffee shops, restaurants, etc are available. HMIL charging stations are equipped with advanced chargers offering multiple configurations: DC 150 kW + DC 60 kW + DC 30 kW or DC 150 kW + DC 30 kW or DC 60 kW.

This might be good news for EV owners, but hopefully, this doesn't "charge" the EVs are the future narrative and devoid us from enjoying ICE engines down the line. Do you think EVs are the future or do ICE vehicles still have a chance? Let us know in the comments below!
