The Utility Vehicle market (especially the SUV market) has seen a boom in sales in recent years in India. It continues to be the segment given more preference and has a huge demand in the Indian market. Here is a sales-wise list of the top-10 highest-selling Utility vehicles from Jan-Nov 2024, which includes subcompact and compact SUVs, full-sized SUVs, and the only MPV in the list, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.

6. Tata Nexon - Units sold: 1,48,073
7. Maruti Suzuki Fronx - Units sold: 1,45,484
8. Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara - Units sold: 1,15,654
9. Hyundai Venue - Units sold: 1,07,554
10. Kia Sonet - Units sold: 1,03,353

Highlights:

Tata Punch has seen a rise in sales in the 11 months of 2024, compared to the CY2023 (1,50,182 units) and is closing on the 2 lakh unit mark with the best monthly sales in April (approx 19,158 units were sold).
Hyundai Creta remains the best-selling midsize SUV in India and is set to launch a facelift soon in 2025.
All the Utility Vehicles mentioned in the list have crossed the 1 lakh units sold mark.
Four Maruti cars have been featured on the list.
Eight out of the ten Utility Vehicles have surpassed their total sales in CY2023, proving that the demand for the SUV segment is rising every year.

Future of the SUV segment

With multiple new models and facelifts set to launch in 2025 from various manufacturers, it is clear that 2025 is going to see a huge increase in sales of cars in India and it is going to be a huge year for the Indian automobile scene.

Overall, it has been a great year of sales for the SUV segment in 2024 and with many more new additions set to launch in 2025, the competition just keeps on increasing, providing a wide variety of vehicles to choose from in the market for Indian customers and buyers.
