Ducati Unveils Desmo450 MX: Marking Its Entry into a New Segment

Ducati has taken the wraps off the Desmo450 MX, which is the first Motocross motorcycle from Ducati and will first be sold only in the US.
Ducati is pushing for the same level of success it received in the other categories.

THE HEART OF THE BIKE:-
Powering this bike is a newly developed 449.6cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine featuring a 96mm bore and a 62.1mm stroke.
This high-revving motor churns out an impressive 62bhp and 54Nm of torque and revs up to a whopping 11,900rpm.
The Ducati weighs in at just 104.8kgs which is impressive.
This weight is achieved by a lightweight aluminum perimeter frame that minimizes welds, improving structural rigidity.

SUSPENSION AND BRAKING:-
The suspension duties are taken care of by a fully adjustable 49mm Showa fork at the front and a fully adjustable monoshock at the rear which helps the rider to fine tune it according to his/her liking.
Braking is managed by a two-piston floating caliper paired with a 260mm front disc, while the rear features a single-piston caliper working with a 240mm disc.
ELECTRONICS:-
This motorcycle also features some segment-first electronic features like traction control, two riding modes, launch control and engine brake control.

The bike also gets a high seat height of 970mm which might be a concern for shorter riders.
Design-wise, it follows the usual Motocross design cues and the bike in Red is absolutely stunning. It receives an upswept exhaust as well.

PRICING AND COMPETITION:-
The bike is priced at around $11,459 (approximately Rs 10 lakh in India).
Its competition includes the KTM 450 SX-F, Kawasaki KX 450, and 450R.
