Breaking: Hyundai To Reintroduce Physical Buttons!!!

Hyundai is reverting to the old ways and will feature more physical buttons from 2026, which is a stark difference from the competition.
The Brand's Vice President Of Design had also stated that smaller screens would be introduced to maximise safety whilst also offering a user-friendly OS.

SAFETY COMES FIRST:-
Hyundai is focusing more on safety and practicality, as let's be honest, Touchscreens and digital panels create distraction which increases the risk of an accident.
Also, the lack of buttons and the sole reliance on screens makes us miss the tactile feel and satisfaction of using physical buttons

Loasby's Statement- VP of design
“Our vision for our next-generation interiors [is that] the safest way is to keep the driver’s eyes on the road as much as possible…With this philosophy in mind, we quite quickly realised that the central screen is actually just a distraction. So [in terms of safety] you really don’t want people to look at the screen, you want them to look at eye level,” he said.
By having physical buttons on the steering wheel, the driver can very quickly glance at the frequently used functions or even adjust them without looking away from the road. “The infotainment display [will be there too] as it offers extra layers you can go into,” stated Loasby.

Statement from Design Boss:-
“It is always a part of the balance between having the right screen that provides you with the information in a size that allows you to concentrate on driving…At the same time, we have to make sure the screens are not forcing you to go into sub-menu for operations that only required buttons before. So it’s always not over killing it. If you rely only on screens, you are tending to go away from…hands on the steering wheel and the eyes on the road, which is, for me, the most important factor of security safety,” emphasising on the importance of the screen size.
This is exactly what we wanted as a perfect blend of a user-friendly touchscreen with buttons which has the right tactile feel would do the trick.

The Korean Manufacturer to also focus on more physical buttons for their more performance-oriented N-models. “When it comes to N," he said, "we put more on the steering wheel because if I’ve got gloves on, I can’t use the touchscreen.”
The Whole industry is moving away from the all-digital setup as multiple users have asked for a more user-friendly cabin, as Volkswagen has also stated that it's moving towards a more conventional cabin.
This might just be what the industry needs right now, and we have nothing to complain about!!!
