Took my Audi A4 from India to Pakistan!

Relaxing over the weekend, hungry for some adventure. My family decided to visit the Nadabet Indo – Pak Border in Gujarat. Well, Border. You would think that this would be a restricted area and serious business only.

Guess what! This place is open to all Indians.

Located approximately 260 km from Ahmedabad and 4 hours by road. You can reach the Indo-Pak border.

My Dad and I were excited as we love geopolitics. My Sister and Mom wanted a getaway so it sounded like a perfect plan.

Pit stop on 11th January – Readying the 2019 B9 Audi A4 40 TFSI powered by the legendary 2.0 Liter EA888 motor pushing 190 hp @ 4200 - 6000 rpm. And a healthy torque of 320 NM @1450-4200 rpm. I was excited and headed to the petrol pump to fill regular 91 octane petrol in my car and check on the tires.

Quick check later, We got ready and left Ahmedabad at 4:30 pm. 57,644 km on the odometer and this A4 was all ready to pick up some speed.

We started off slow, Getting out of Ahmedabad and Mehsana was a hassle as it was rush hour traffic, 2 lane highway meant – Trucks in the overtaking lane and Rickshaws in the Left.

The sun set on us at 6:00 pm and we had only crossed Kadi – My Ancestral home. Sun was down and the worst was yet to come

Reaching Patan – The City famous for its Sarees and Stepwells and its contribution to history. We realised that it was a Single lane road for the next 150 km.

Sun was down and roads were empty. It was VERY SPOOKY and it felt like anyone would come up in the middle of the road and stop us. Thanks to the endless Road accident reels I see on Instagram

I found myself safe at very high speeds, constantly pulling the car at 100-120 kmph. The Audi felt at Home. She really enjoys that speed and is happy to go higher if you want her to.

4 Adults and a full boot was no problem for the A4, The 2.0 Liter motor was more than happy to pull the 2.5 ton weight with ease. Asking for more.

The right turn after Radhanpur was the worst one so far, after this turn. I couldn’t see a single soul on the road. We crossed towns and villages every 15 minutes and with no street lights it all felt like we were not supposed to be there at 7:30 pm. I had to keep an eye out for terrible speed breakers near towns without signs. It brought my speed down. Ground clearance was no issue. The car happily cleared all the speed breakers or mountains of dirt with ease.

At 8:00 pm, we crossed the last town of India – Suigam, Gujarat heading straight towards Nadabet Mandir, Our Halt for the night.

We covered a distance of 30km in 30 minutes. A time unheard of someone who has lived in Mumbai all their life.

Upon Reaching the Mandir, We put ourselves to sleep and how!

Waking up naturally at 8 am to chilly Nadabet. I could see my car parked right outside through my room. She looks amazing!

We planned to take the car towards Nadabet. A beautiful place setup by the Indian Government. It’s a place to enjoy with family. Adventure rides, A theatre with special documentaries, a lot of food joints and places to visit.

The car had beautifully performed averaging at 12-14 kmpl with a very heavy foot. I am a “Heavy Driver” and want to push the car to get to my destination.

We visited the Zero Point and explored the amazing infrastructure the government has made. We were a mere 150 meters away from the border and the Pakistani land was clearly visible! My phone even connected to the Pakistani Network! There was no cell service by Indian operators though

We decided to leave early for Ahmedabad to avoid the horrors that we faced the previous night. At 3:30 pm sharp we departed for Ahmedabad.

Ahmedabad was approx. 4 hours away. This meant we would reach Mehsana – A town close to Ahmedabad and properly built up before sunset.

The Base leg was pretty uneventful and we returned safely. I have some cool time-lapse that I will be uploading on my Instagram and Youtube!

Lots of memories later and food later, We reached base at around 9:30 pm. The car was super happy all throughout, The roads were amazing too. A little construction near Mehsana. Over the 481 km, The car averaged at 12.8 kmpl. With my driving style this is actually pretty good.

This is what I love doing the most!
