Honda & Nissan In Negotiations For A Possible Merger
NISSAN IN A CRISIS:-
Currently, Nissan is in a Financial Crisis and reports had suggested that it could only sustain 12-14 Months using its own funds. Nissan is facing tough competetion not only in Japan but Globally too.
Foxconn, the manufacturer of Apple Devices had approached Nissan but were rejected by the Company.
Nissan had adopted a cost-saving plan which included cutting-down 9000 jobs and reducing global production capacity by around 20%.
THE TWO JAPANESE ICONS:-
Honda and Nissan are set for a merger and if it were to happen, the combination would create the World's 3rd largest Auto Group with an estimated valuation at $54 Billion
Nissan shares have surged after the reports of a merger broke out.
Nissan currently owns 24% stake in an another iconic Japanese manufacturer, Mitsubishi which could also join the merger in the future.
Since March 2024, the partnership was aimed to tackle the EV Industry by jointly developing EVs and EV related software
Nissan has reduced the production of its best-sellers like the X-Trail and has asked dealers to sell cars at a loss in markets like Northern and Latin America.
The competetion is increasing significantly and are creating a head-scratching situations for the well-established players and chinese counterparts are offering better cars and better technology at an affordable price-point.
One such great example is BYD- which has revolutionized the EV market with its Blade- Cell technology.
Reports suggest that the three Japanese manufacturers are expected to hold a Joint Press conference soon to announce the merger.
