After its global debut in March 2025, the all-new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe has finally made its way to Indian shores, priced at Rs 46.90 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India). This refreshed entry-level model from the Bavarian automaker gets a comprehensive makeover, both inside and out. This entry-level BMW now runs on a 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine—trading some power figures compared to its outgoing version. Here’s the variant-wise prices:

  • 218 M Sport - Rs 46.90 Lakh
  • 218 M Sport Pro - Rs 48.90 Lakh

(All prices are introductory, ex-showroom pan-India)

So, what does the updated 2 Series bring to the table for Indian buyers? Let’s take a closer look.

Still Looks Sleek But….

The 2025 2 Series receives a major design overhaul while retaining its sleek silhouette. Notable updates include a redesigned kidney grille with illuminated surrounds, revised headlights featuring dual vertically stacked arrow-shaped LEDs, and glare-free matrix high-beam technology with blue accents. The front bumper has also been refreshed with new air intakes. The frameless doors have been retained and definitely makes it look cooler.

BMW dubs this fresh face the “shark nose” and it’s definitely more polarising than before – love it or hate it – you’ll notice it. The dimensions have grown too: the new 2 Series now stretches 4,565 mm in length (20 mm longer) and stands 25 mm taller than its predecessor, at 1,445 mm. The rear too looks fresh with updated tail lights with vertically aligned LED elements while the registration plate has been shifted on the tailgate.

Revamped Cabin

Inside, BMW has given the 2025 2 Series Gran Coupe a fresh new red and black cabin theme and the main highlight is its new curved display setup consisting of 2 screens (a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display and a 10.7-inch infotainment system). The seats too are upholstered in vegan leather while the steering wheel is also inspired from new-age Beamers.

In terms of equipment, the 2025 2 Series comes loaded with amenities like a digital key, 205W Harman Kardon audio system, wireless phone charger, auto-dimming IRVM, and a panoramic glass roof. Safety features include multiple airbags, park assist, a 360-degree camera.

Performance: Is It BMW Enough?

Here’s the twist: the new entry-level Beemer swaps out its old powerhouse for a downsized 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine pushing out 156 PS and 230 Nm of torque. In case you’re keeping score, the outgoing model packed a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol with 190 PS—so yes, that’s a noticeable drop. Is this downsizing a smart move or a step backward? Tell us what you think in the comments.

Still, the numbers aren’t too shabby. The 2025 2 Series clocks 0–100 kmph in 8.6 seconds, with a top speed limited to 230 kmph.

Rivals

The 2025 BMW 2 Series continues to compete with the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine, which is its sole direct rival in India.
